About Dr. Andrews:

Sona K. Andrews assumed the position as Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs at Boise State University in August 2004. In her role, she serves as the chief academic officer and as such, is responsible for advancing the academic and scholarly life of the campus. Working in close collaboration with deans, faculty and staff, the Provost develops and implements academic policy, fosters new academic programs, monitors programmatic effectiveness, identifies and establishes academic priorities, and collaborates with university leadership and the State Board of Education to advance campus initiatives that lead to student success and to faculty and staff excellence. Dr. Andrews also holds an appointment as a professor in the Department of Geosciences.

Prior to coming to Boise State University, Dr. Andrews served as Vice Provost at the University of Wisconsin Milwaukee; a metropolitan research university with Carnegie extensive doctoral/research designation. She has held faculty positions at the University of Minnesota-Twin Cities and the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee. Her area of scholarly specialization is cartography and Geographic Information Systems (GIS).

Born in Providence, Rhode Island, Dr. Andrews completed her first year of undergraduate education at the Nichan Palanjian Armenia College in Beirut, Lebanon and went on to earn her undergraduate degree in Geography from Worcester State College in Massachusetts in 1975 and her Master's (1977) and Ph.D. (1981) in Geography from Arizona State University.

Dr. Andrews has served a journal editor and as a member on numerous professional national committees and boards. In 2000-01 she was an American Council on Education Fellow and currently serves on the ACE Fellows Program Executive Committee.

About the Idaho Inclusiveness Coalition

Established in 1999, the Idaho Inclusiveness Coalition (IIC) is a 501(C)3 non-profit organization, formed to develop and implement strategies for creating and sustaining inclusive communities throughout the state of Idaho. The mission of the IIC is to foster a diverse and inclusive community in which all people can flourish. The organization’s purpose is to serve as a catalyst to leverage the knowledge, experience and resources of business, government, education and community to foster an inclusive and diverse Idaho.
